GATHERING FOR WORSHIP

RINGING OF THE TOWER BELL

GREETING

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And you will say on that day: Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; Make known his deeds among the nations; proclaim that his name is exalted.  Isaiah 12: 3-4

PREPARATION TO HEAR THE WORD

PRELUDE                   I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say (Hymn 182)

CALL TO WORSHIP

Gracious God, forever seeking us,

Open our minds to the truth of your care.

Open our hearts to the gentle power of your love.

Open our lips to share stories of faith.

Open our mouths to sing your praises boldly.

*HYMN # 305                                                                Come Sing, O Church, in Joy!

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (in unison)

Searcher of hearts, you have known us from the beginning. You see in us more good and beauty than we have dared to believe. Forever you call us by name. But we have filled our lives with the sounds of the world. We have not loved and sought you with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Help us to know and to live in your forgiving light. Empower and embolden us to live in such a way that people would experience the joy and passion of your love through all we say and do.

SILENT CONFESSION

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy and forgive us.

Friends, believe the Good News that comes from God: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Amen.

*PASSING OF THE PEACE

Since God has forgiven us in Jesus Christ, we also ought to forgive one another.

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

And also with you.

*GLORIA PATRI

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, World without end.  Amen,  Amen.

PRESENTATION OF OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

CALL FOR THE OFFERING

Friends, God shows us mercy. How should we respond?

By following God and by letting God shape us into something different from the world around us. Let us bring our tithes and offering to God.

OFFERTORY                    Jesus, Thou Joy of Loving Hearts

Like the woman at the well I was seeking for things that could not satisfy,

  and then I heard my Savior speaking, "Draw from my well which never will run dry."

*DOXOLOGY

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

*OFFERTORY PRAYER

Gracious God, we offer with joy and thanksgiving what You have first given us – our selves, our time, and our possessions, signs of Your gracious love.  Receive them for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen
