GATHERING FOR WORSHIP

RINGING OF THE TOWER BELL

GREETING

For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. -1 Cor 1:18

PREPARATION TO HEAR THE WORD

PRELUDE     God Is My Strong Salvation (Hymn 343)

CALL TO WORSHIP

The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?

When fears surround us and doubts multiply,

We seek God's face and trust in God's presence.

One thing we ask, one thing we seek:

To dwell in the house of the LORD, to behold God's beauty all the days of our lives.

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart.

We will wait for the LORD. Let us worship God together!

*HYMN # 39 Great Is Thy Faithfulness

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of light and calling, we confess that we often prefer the shadows to your illuminating presence. You call us to follow, and we calculate the cost. You promise to make us fishers of people, and we cling to our familiar nets. We want transformation without change, discipleship without sacrifice, light without leaving our darkness behind.

Forgive us for our hesitations and half-hearted responses. Forgive us for the times we've heard your voice and chosen comfort over calling. Give us courage to drop what we're holding and follow where you lead, trusting that your light is enough for the next faithful step.

SILENT CONFESSION

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Hear the good news: The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. Jesus does not call the perfect or the prepared—he calls fishermen, tax collectors, and doubters, transforming them by grace. In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, claimed, and called beloved.

Thanks be to God!

*PASSING OF THE PEACE

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

And also with you!
